THE COLLECTOR follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

The project, produced by Fortress Features’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti and Imaginarium Entertainment Group’s Julie Richardson, stars Josh Stewart (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Criminal Minds), Daniella Alonso (Friday Night Lights, The Hills Have Eyes 2), Michael Reilly Burke (Lincoln Heights, 24), Andrea Roth (Rescue Me, War), Madeline Zima (Californication, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Karley Scott-Collins (Pulse 2, The Class), Robert Wisdom (The Wire, The Forgotten) and Juan Fernandez (The Lost City, A Man Apart).

"REPO! The Genetic Opera is the modern day "little engine that could."  Critics panned it, many tried to bury it, the Razzies awarded it and THOUSANDS are clamoring for it.  Icons of Fright's Spooky Dan couldn't help but notice the massive stir REPO! is causing globally and traveled nationwide to capture it on film in a 4 minute mini-documentary: www.iconsoffright.com/Video.html.

Ogre, REPO!'s Pavi Largo, explains the movement as "a passion project embraced by the very audience it was meant for.  Never better a turning of the screw back into a stuffed shirt mentality of forced propagandized drool.  This is handmade, fan made, retribution. Pavi says 'it's-a perfect!'"

Throughout history, it took years for something "cult" to incubate into full fledged "phenomenon." In today's digital age, cyber-speed has quickened the process.  Forums buzz and message boards overflow with requests for more REPO!.  Independent theater chains across the country are answering fans' pleas for more REPO!.  The film once buried by critics is now being booked on the silver screen due to overwhelming fan demand.  Everywhere from Salem, MA to San Jose, CA fans are launching social sites, connecting clusters of REPO! fans, and REPO! armies, armed with shadowcasts, are popping up everywhere.  See attached graphic for REPO!'s summer 2009 screenings."

Spooky Dan's back with his 2nd blog entry for ICONS OF FRIGHT! This week, he asks the question "Can DREAD and THE HILLS RUN RED Fix Horror?" He caught early screenings of both and both those films made quite an impression on Dan. Here's the intro to his latest blog entry:

"For the past few months it has seemed like horror films have taken a turn for the worse. Even the good films were just good, not great. The last couple horror films to really grab me were Let the Right One In and Martyrs. I had seen both of those films over a year ago, and while some others have come through the pipeline that I genuinely liked, nothing has really shaken me up much (not including Repo! of course). Quite frankly, there doesn’t seem to be much horror heading our way right now that I am super excited about either…Until this week!"
