FADING OF THE CRIES - LA FANGO 2009 PANEL!

On Saturday, April 18th, the LA FANGORIA WEEKEND OF HORRORS kicked off it's panel sessions with a preview of the film FADING OF THE CRIES. ICONS own Robg. moderated the panel which consisted of director Brian Metcalf, Elaine Hendrix, acting legend Brad Dourif, Jessica Morris, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Mackenzie Rosman, Hallee Hirsh and Jordan Matthews. Coming from an FX background, Brian Metcalf chose to make FADING OF THE CRIES, an epic looking horror/fantasy hybrid his directorial debut. Metcalf introduced the trailer to the film, which most of the cast themselves on stage had yet to see.

After seeing the ambitious clip, we discussed the origins of the project with Metcalf and co-producer Thomas Ian Nicholas, finding the right cast and executing the special FX, which judging from the trailer was a combination of practical and CGI. (We also got to see a fair amount of cool sword fighting between Dourif's evil character Mathias and Jordan Matthews' Jacob)

Naturally, the audience has plenty of questions for genre alumni Brad Dourif, most of which stemmed his entire body of work both within and out of the genre. He talked a bit about his recent experiences shooting Rob Zombie's H2 (HALLOWEEN 2) and what it was like to reprise the role of Sheriff Brackett. "I had a lot more to do this time," tells us Dourif.

When asked about the CHILD'S PLAY remake, he joked that he didn't even know about it until the check out girl at the local supermarket mentioned it to him on line one day. He says that he spoke to writer/director Don Mancini and that he'd still like Brad to reprise his role as Chucky aka Charles Lee Ray.

Although the trailer was beautifully cut to the music of Sarah McLaughlan, Metcalf revealed he was directing a video with former NY based hardcore outfit HELMET in the upcoming weeks for a new track for the film. The movie is currently in post-production with a tentative Fall release date. Overall a fun and informative panel for a film you should put on your rader! More when we hear it. Caught the trailer on Upcoming Horror Movies and I so want to see it badly. Looks far more exciting than the average "horror" movie if that's what you call it. Brad looks the best I've seen him in years!

Please, please, please be released in the UK. My friends and I want to see this movie more than we did when twilight came out

This film looks wicked cool! Brad is Da Bomb!

What strange casting. You have Horror Fave Brad, you have teen icons Thomas I. Nichols, Mackenzie Rosman and Disney girl Elane Henricks. This is very unique casting to me. But I will admit it looks simply a cut above the average horror/action films coming out.

Fuck yeah! Helmet Rules!!! Excellent music choices!

Please don't fuck this up Brian. I normally don't give visual effects guys chances on directing films but this one looks and sounds surprisingly cool! Don't disappoint me or I'll never give any visual guys the chance again. Fangmeier, you already blew it!

I can't believe I missed it with all these hot guys on stage!

Welcome back Brad. I thought you forgot about us. I finally get to see a movie with Brad Dourif as the lead bad guy in theatres again, man. And he gets to swing a sword. This movie looks like some scary Hellraiser shit. I'm gonna be first in line for tix. ONly thing I don't get, a Sarah Mclaughlin song for the trailer. Isn't that easy listening? I get the Helmet bit. Can't seem to find it so not sure what to make. But the screengrabs and description looks pretty badass.

Beelz, the trailer was one of the most emotional, dark and beautiful trailers I'd seen in my life. Trust me when I say the music worked. They had it posted on upcoming horror movies and bloody disgusting a little while ago but they took it down. But I will agree on saying welcome back Brad. Sorry the cop role in H2 is nothing really to praise about. This film far exceeds it by all means and allows him to go back to kicking ass!

It pisses me off that they made FangoCon so damn confusing. I looked everywhere and me and my friends wanted to go to this panel but the damn thing was impossible to find. Everyone gave us wrong directions and we showed up halfway through the trailer which looks amazing. Fangoria needs to be more organized.

This is the film I've been waiting for!!!

We couldn't find the panel either. We missed the trailer and came only for this panel.

I want to see this more than Twilight too. Jordan looks like amazing and so does Brad. I can't wait!

the sword fighting looks badass and this looks like some good R rated bloody stuff in the making. Yeah and I like the dark looks and the longer hair for Jordan and Brad. Looks like a kick ass action movie.

I've been following this for some time...it looks like a sweet movie and think it's a trilogy or part of a bigger series like Twilight, etc...btw they're doing DragonCon in September. Soooo can't wait for this!!!!!!!!!

yeah but they also have real actors unlike Twilight and I think Jordan looks way kooler and hotter than Robert Pattinson. He's probly a better actor 2! This should be much better.
