Now that Platinum Dunes has a script and director in place for their "reboot" of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and a shooting start date set as well, the next question is... who will don the infamous brown fedora and fingerblade glove? (And please, let's make note that the 61 year old Robert Englund does not want to play the character anymore.) A current fave contender amongst genre fans & most of the on-line journalist community is Jackie Earle Haley (who was nominated for an Oscar for LITTLE CHILDREN back in 2006). While out promoting WATCHMEN (Haley portrays the vigilante Rorschach), IGN caught up with the actor and cornered him about the persistant "Freddy Krueger" rumors! Here's what he had to say:

Meanwhile, Shock Till You Drop is reporting that Andrew Clement will be handling the FX duties on the new NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Shock reports that, "Clement served on the animatronics team behind CLOVERFIELD and was the makeup artist on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek and Spider-Man 3."
