Director Not Set For TWILIGHT Sequel ECLIPSE After All?
Share on FacebookDespite a Variety piece a few days back confirming that director Juan Antonio Bayona would be helming ECLIPSE, the 3rd film in the TWILIGHT series, Summit Entertainment is speaking out to clear up the rumors. Erik Feig, President of Production at Summit Entertainment told the LA Times "The ECLIPSE directing job hasn’t been offered to Juan Antonio or anyone else. We’ve met with three or four talented filmmakers and we’ll be meeting with three or four more other candidates before we make any decision. No one has been offered the job."
Drew Barrymore, IDENTITY’s James Mangold and Paul Weitz, whose brother Chris is helming the second in the franchise, NEW MOON are all contendors at this point.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA 'NEW MOON' starts shooting later this month with a release date of November 20th, 2009 locked down. Chris Weitz is directing. Dakota Fanning joins returning actors Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. ECLIPSE is scheduled for a June 30th, 2010 release date.
Based on the hit novel series by Stephenie Meyer, TWILIGHT was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Edi Gathegi, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Cam Cigandet, Kellan Lutz, Anna Kendrick and Taylor Lautner.
