Several months ago, Randall Cook let the word out that he was no longer attached to the proposed 3D remake of THE GATE. The project was thought to be dead... that is until today's post on Production Weekly.com! The publication says that Alex Winter is attached to direct. While most genre fans may recognize Winter in front of the camera in such films as THE LOST BOYS and BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, Winter made the segue way into directing starting with his debut FREAKED and following it up with the highly underrated FEVER (starring Henry Thomas). Most recently, he's been directing episodes of the Cartoon Network's Ben 10.

The original THE GATE was directed by Tibor Takacs from a script by Michael Nankin and starred Stephen Dorff, Louis Tripp, Christa Denton and Carl Kraines.
