"Timothy Olyphant has signed on to star in "THE CRAZIES," Overture's remake of the George Romero horror movie being directed by Breck Eisner" says The Hollywood Reporter. The article continues, "The story revolves around the inhabitants of a small Kansas town who are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. Olyphant is playing the town's sheriff. Scott Kosar and Ray Wright wrote the screenplay."

Olyphant is no stranger to the genre having appeared in SCREAM 2, DREAMCATCHER, as well as non-genre fare like HBO's DEADWOOD, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and HITMAN. Should be interesting to see how Eisner interprets the story from Romero's original film.

A release date for THE CRAZIES is tentatively set for September 25th, 2009! More when we hear it!
