12/24/06: From Rob Zombie's official blog...

“and MICHAEL MYERS IS....

Here's more exciting news for the holiday break. Adult Michael Myers will be played by TYLER MANE. I'm sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from The Devil's Rejects, Sabretooth in the X-Men and the unstoppable Ajax in Troy. Tyler is mean, lean and ready to bring you the most psychotic Michael Myers yet.”

Wow. Interesting choice! It was announced that Daeg Faerch has been cast as young Michael Myers. So here’s a pic of the 2 actors playing Michael Myers:

12/23/06: Rob Zombie has casted Dr. Loomis in the upcoming HALLOWEEN according to his official My Space blog! It ain't Ben Kingsley, but it's a pleasent surprise regardless. Read on:

From Rob Zombie's official blog...

"AND DR. LOOMIS IS.......?

Well, here is the news you've all been waiting for. Who is Dr. Loomis? Well, the answer is..... the one and only MALCOLM McDOWELL ! Yes, lengendary actor Malcolm McDowell will be the new Dr. Loomis.

As many of you know A Clockwork Orange is my favorite film and I am a huge, huge fan of Malcolm. I know Malcolm will kick ass as Dr. Loomis. He is thrilled to be part of HALLOWEEN and is ready to make a new classic."

UPDATE: Fangoria's website is reporting that Danielle Harris, whom genre fans remember as little Jamie Lloyd from Halloween's 4 & 5 has ALSO been cast in Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN!? Her role has yet to be confirmed but it's said to be a "leading role". Could Danielle be the new Laurie Strode?! We'll all know soon enough! Also, Daeg Faerch has been cast as young Michael Myers. 9/12/06: Finally, the September 2006 edition of ICONS OF FRIGHT is up!!!

This month, we’ve got 4 FRIGHT exclusive interviews for you.

First up, we spoke to filmmaker RUSTY NAILS (Yes, that’s his name), the writer/director behind the independent feature ‘ACNE’, the documentary ‘HIGHWAY ROBBERY’ and the upcoming documentary ‘DEAD ON: THE LIFE & CINEMA OF GEORGE A. ROMERO’. After screening footage at a few conventions, it’s clear that Rusty’s ‘DEAD ON’ is going to be the most extensive documentary on George Romero and the workings of the independent filmmaker. We talked to him about the troubles of getting your first film finished, why he went into documentary filmmaking, and of course his experiences with George Romero. Check it out!!!

Is NICK PALUMBO the most controversial filmmaker EVER?! Some of the hype for his latest film claims that he is. While others claim that he shares the traits explored by the main character of his serial killer flick ‘MURDER SET PIECES’ (Misogyny, Anti-Semitism and a distain for women & children.) Could he have made a film too extreme for even the most hardcore of fans? Or is it a personal vendetta against the filmmaker himself which has caused such an uproar? What’s true and what isn’t? Despite our conflicting opinions of his film, we tried to get to the bottom of all the rumors. Now, it’s up to YOU to decide.

We also spoke to New York based filmmaker ELIAS from Biff Juggernaut Productions who just released a Lovecraft inspired anthology film ‘LOVECRACKED: THE MOVIE!’ It even boasts a cameo by Troma president (And Toxic Avenger director) Lloyd Kaufman. Sit back and read our interview with one of the latest in the rising East Coast independent film scene.

Last but certainly not least, we spoke to the foxy RAINE BROWN. The up & coming actress has popped up in a number of genre related films lately, including Dante Tomaselli’s ‘HORROR’ & ‘SATANS PLAYGROUND’, as well as ‘AUNT ROSE’ (out this week on Anchor Bay Entertainment), ‘MAYA’S SOUL’, & ‘BARRICADE’. Read all about her!!!

This month, Mike C checks in with the TRILOGY PICKS. This month’s theme? Great Horror Anthologies. This month’s picks? TWICE-TOLD TALES, CREEPSHOW and KWAIDAN.

OH! And for those of you in New York City, this Thursday night September 14th, there’s going to be a special screening of VAULT fave ‘TROLL 2’!!! No, we’re serious! And the cast will be there!!! No, really!!! It’s playing at the NYC Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre 307 W26th St. NYC, NY this Thursday September 14th at 9:30 PM. The film will be followed by Q & A with Michael Stephenson (Josh-uuuuu-a), George Hardy (Michael Waits), Jason Wright (That Playboy Son-of-the-Coopers), Darren Ewing (Ohhhh Myyyyy Gaaaaawwwwwdddd it's Arnold!!), Jason Steadman (Drew) and possibly more including Creedence Leonore Gielgud and Grandpa Seth! 8/14/06: Just posted a slew of new DVD REVIEWS. They include HALLOWEEN: 25 YEARS OF TERROR, HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS: SPECIAL DIVIMAX EDITION, HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS: SPECIAL DIVIMAX EDITION, RAW MEAT, and SCARY MOVIE 4. Check them out! New updates by the weekend! -robg.

8/5/06: Gary Sherman (DEATH LINE/RAW MEAT, DEAD & BURIED, VICE SQUAD, LISA, and POLTERGEIST 3) checked in with us this month to promote his latest film 39: A FILM BY CAROLL MCKANE and dropped some hints about a possible RAW MEAT re-release on DVD under it’s original title and brought us up to date on the status of the DEATH LINE remake.

In regards to DEATH LINE/RAW MEAT on DVD:

“The DVD that’s (available now) called ‘Raw Meat’ is NOT ‘Raw Meat’, but it is ‘DEATH LINE’. It is from the negative of my director’s cut from England. It’s from the original Technicolor negative. Frame for frame, it is ‘Death Line’ and not ‘Raw Meat’. And hopefully Sony who owns the MGM library now is going to re-release it, sometime in the next year AS ‘Death Line’. It’s being talked about it. It’s not definite yet, but Guillermo (Del Toro) and I have talked about doing a commentary together. So… Sony if you’re listening out there! Let’s get this show on the road! The fans deserve it.”

In regards to the status of a possible remake:

“The script is done and it’s getting a great reaction from the studios. A major agency has asked for the full package to represent the film. I can’t say who just yet. I did NOT re-write the original ‘Death Line’. I stayed as far away from that as possible. I just thought about what if I came up with the idea of putting Sawney Bean in a subway system today. How would I approach that? And that’s exactly what I did, and it’s a completely new, modern approach to the whole thing. It is not a film that could have been made in 1972. It’s a film that only could’ve been made in 2006-2007. It’s very modern. It’s incredibly modern, I actually surprised myself.”

Will it take place in the London Underground again?

“No, it takes place in Chicago. It takes place in the subway system of Chicago. The new ‘Death Line’ is just as political and just as socially significant as the original one was. Originally, I did the original ‘Death Line’ as a protest film. It’s very political. It talks about classes. That’s really what the film was meant to do, which was hide a social message behind a horror story and the new one I think does it better. It really deals with social ills of today.”

In regards to if he plans to direct it?

“They want me to direct it. And I’m thinking about it. I almost think that I don’t want it made unless I do direct it.”

Check out the full extensive interview HERE!!!

FOX sent us a press release for a number of their upcoming films. Here’s the scoop on a few…

THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 (March 2, 2007): The sequel to the 2006 horror re-make, The Hills Have Eyes which grossed over $41 million at the domestic box office, is written by horror legend Wes Craven and Jonathan Craven and will be directed by Martin Weisz.  The storyline follows a group of young National Guard trainees who are attacked by mutants during a training mission in the New Mexico desert. The Hills Have Eyes:The Beginning, a graphic novel, will be published by Fox Atomic Comics in 2007.

28 WEEKS LATER (May 11, 2007): The creative team of Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, and Andrew Macdonald are back to re-invent the zombie movie yet again with the sequel to 28 Days Later.  Lead by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, 28 Weeks Later picks up six months after the Rage virus has decimated the city of London.  The US Army has restored order and is repopulating the quarantined city, when a carrier of the Rage virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection, wreaking havoc on the entire population. 28 Days Later:The Aftermath, a graphic novel, will be published by Fox Atomic Comics in 2007.

And sure, this isn’t horror, but hell… if you know us, we love the comedies of the 80’s. First news on:

REVENGE OF THE NERDS - A raucous re-imagining of the comedy classic.  Adams College is turned upside down by a group of freshmen misfits who redefine the term "nerd."  As they try to form their own frat, the nerds incur the wrath of the ultimate alpha males , the infamous Alpha Beta fraternity. The nerds refuse to go down without a fight, waging an all-out battle against the notorious jocks during Greek Week.  Kyle Newman (Fanboys) is set to direct with McG and Stephanie Savage producing.

4/9/06: Here's something new and extremely exciting. We're proud to annouce the launch of Icons of Fright LIVE. Exclusive to MySpace!

This is where we're going to be bringing you live audio interviews with genre celebrities. The first one is a experiment and I need you guys feedback, please!

You'll find on the page now a recent Q&A by horror legend George A. Romero. The Q&A was after a screening of "The Crazies" on Long Island about 2 weeks ago. Spur of the moment I recorded the event on my micro-recorder and I got it uploaded. Sound quality is OK. It's not the greatest, but I did my best to clean it up and make it completely audible. You should be able to hear everything. Trust me, it's an extremely entertaining 45 minutes with George (and I broke it up into bite-size 10 minute bits).

Part of what we always want to do with Icons of Fright is bring the horror event and horror convention experience to those of you who can't make it or don't have events close by. Minus the $15 admission and $20/piece autographs, of course. If you end up liking this, we'll certainly continue to feature new interviews, and Q&A sessions from conventions on Icons of Fright LIVE. I cannot stress how much I really would like your feedback
, please!!

I think this is going to be an awesome new feature for our MySpace friends, so go check it out!!!!!

Thanks so much and enjoy! --Mike C.

4/5/06: Howdy fiends! Big casting news for our buddy Dante Tomaselli's flick 'THE OCEAN'. It seems former Sopranos star Vincent Pastore has joined the cast of 'THE OCEAN' playing the father to Felissa Rose's character. Felissa and Vincent worked together on the as-yet-to-be released 'RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP'. Adrienne Barbeau was originally cast as Felissa's mother in the film, but had to bow up due to her upcoming book tour. Replacing her will be none other then Margot Kidder! (Black Christmas, Superman). Dante alumni Danny Lopes and Christie Sanford should be back, as well as Ed Neal (who last worked with Dante on SATAN'S PLAYGROUND). Rumors have it that one of Vincent Pastore's former co-stars from The Sopranos may also hop into 'THE OCEAN' if timing permits. We'll let you know when it's official.

And right after 'THE OCEAN', Dante's been planninga little flick called 'SALEM'! Here's a cool teaser image for his potential 'Ocean' follow-up!!!

Also, there's a new Techno Weenie post on the site today. Check it out!!!

4/2/06: The April edition of ICONS OF FRIGHT is up!!!

This month we've got 3 awesome FRIGHT exclusive interviews! 2 from people that have never had an on-line interview in print!!!

How many of you remember the 80's horror gem 'THE GATE'? Well, we tracked down director TIBOR TAKACS for his first ever on line interview to talk about making 'THE GATE', 'THE GATE 2', and 'I MADMAN'!!! Also, Adam Barnick caught up with actor DANNY LOPES, who appears in ALL of Dante Tomaselli's films to date! Check out all 3 FRIGHT exclusive interviews!!!

Want more FRIGHT exclusive articles? YOU GOT IT!!! This month, we take a look at 'THE MAKING OF SON OF HORROR BUSINESS', the follow up to Christopher P. Garetano's 'Horror Business' documentary! Icons recently took a trip with Chris to secure footage for his next doc, and along the way, we witnessed the making of Paul Solet's GRACE which features Liza Weil (Stir Of Echoes) & Brian Austin Green, met legendary director Bob Clark, and sat in for interview sessions with Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) and cult director Damon Packard! Icons own Jsyn and his WICKED EFX crew got to poke out Brian Austin Green's eyeball for GRACE. Now THAT'S worth looking at! Check it all out in this month's article 'THE MAKING OF SON OF HORROR BUSINESS: AN ICONS TRIP TO CALI'.

John Torrani finally returns his his column 'MOVIES THE BAD KIDS LIKE'. This month's selections are part of his 'BAD KIDS WORSHIP SATAN ON EASTER' edition. Check it out now!

Mike c. gives us this month's trilogy picks - 'CLASSY GHOST STORIES'. Robg contribute's this month's VAULT OF THE FORGOTTEN & OBSCURE picks. Don't forget to check out FIRST LOOK at SLITHER. And there will be even MORE updates within the next week! Stick with us and keep it SICK!!!

3/27/06: Paul Solet's 'GRACE' got a mention this morning on the official Fangoria website! If you recall, he was one of the winners of the Fangoria Blood Drive contest for Volume 2 with his short film 'Means To An End'. (You can read FRIGHT exclusive interview with Paul Solet and Jake Hamilton here on Icons)

He just completed work on the short film for 'GRACE', which will lead to the full length version shortly. We were able to snag some awesome production stills!
In regards to his cast, Paul tells us, "Liza and Brian were amazing to work with.  As actors, they're both just such pros, and they're both so humble and fun as hell.  Liza can wake up out of a nap, stroll onto set and just melt you.  Our AD couldn't believe it, the whole crew would end up crowding around the monitor, hanging on her every move."
"And Brian, even at the end of a 16 hour day, was dead on, totally focused.  Even after sitting in makeup for two hours, getting tracheotomized, having his eye pulled out and being flipped upside down in MFX Special Projects' gimble, he was still completely focused on getting you what you want.  And our midwives....  Get ready.  We were so blessed to have this cast."
In regards to the crew, Paul tells us, "Our crew was unbelievable.  Every department was tight, right down the line.  When you've got people like Becca Cutter and Rosie Sharkey producing, you're just totally insulated from all the stresses of production.  I was able to just focus on getting our shots and getting our performances."
"Our production design team was unreal.  Mark Fenlason and his MFX Special Projects clan were flipping SUV's, building gimbles and fabricating the most beautiful sets I've ever set foot on.  And Jen Russel's costumes were fucking fantastic.  She's got a huge future.  The Wicked EFX posse flew out from NY and pulled out all the stops, as usual.  Just wait until you see Jay Alvino's Gracey - holy shit!"

We'll have another look at the making of 'GRACE' when we post our article 'The Making of 'SON OF HORROR BUSINESS'' with our April edition! We leave you with 2 more production stills! More to come! -rg.

A lot of footage was obtained for Chris Garetano's upcoming 'SON OF HORROR BUSINESS'. We'll have an article with pictures up shortly in regards to the making of 'SON OF HORROR BUSINESS' (which will feature new interviews with Bob Clark, Felissa Rose, Damon Packard, and more).

3/9/06: Wow. There's a slew of independent projects in the works! We've recieved an overwhelming amount of press releases in the past few weeks, so let's try to recap some of these films that you should be on the look out for.

Our buddy Christopher P. Garetano has got a really unique and interesting project planned as the follow-up to his acclaimed documentary 'Horror Business'. Chris revealed his next feature length will be 'SOUTH TEXAS BLUES'. Here's portions of the press release:

"SOUTH TEXAS BLUES is a unique project that is one part documentary, one part period drama and one part cinematic recreation. SOUTH TEXAS BLUES is the amazing true story of the making of one of the most infamous films of all time, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In the summer of 1973, a small inexperienced crew of independent filmmakers set out to create a horror film. Little did they know that during that sweltering Texas summer they would also create a horror movie legend.

With South Texas Blues, Christopher P. Garetano, director of the critically acclaimed documentary Horror Business and the upcoming docudrama The Horror of Dante Tomaselli, will create a motion picture experience like no other as he explores the reasons why The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is so terrifying.

During many of the pivotal dramatic moments of SOUTH TEXAS BLUES, the action and actors will literally freeze as if time stands still. Then one of the actual survivors of the cast and crew will walk back into this frozen moment in time and explain what they were feeling when the moment originally occurred. Also through our working prop camera (which would normally be indented as a prop only) we will precisely recreate the most memorable moments of the original film, using the same grade of 16mm film stock, lights, and lenses that were used for the original classic.

A book of the same name (SOUTH TEXAS BLUES) will be written by film critic/journalist Elaine Lamkin (BLOODY-DISGUSTING.COM) who will co-produce and co-research the film with Garetano. Filmmaker Dante Tomaselli (Satan's Playground, Horror) is also on board as an associate producer. Edwin Neal (who played the maniacal hitchhiker in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre) will come on board as a consultant, as well as many others of the surviving cast and crew."

Brian Corder from the website TOXIC SHOCK.TV wrote in to let us know about his directorial debut 'CARNIES' - a slasher flick set in a 1930's traveling sideshow which stars Chris Staviski, Lee Perkins and Reggie Bannister. Check out this image.

The folks behind the New York City Horror Film Fest are debuting a film of their own! Outnumbered, outgunned and completely outfanged McGuffin Filmworks & Moodude Films Present 'DEAD SERIOUS' - A Horror/Comedy with bite. Dead Serious to screen at Cinema Wasteland Convention / Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo one of the country's largest horror conventions. March 31st, April 1st & 2nd, Cleveland, Ohio, 2006 (www.cinemawasteland.com). The official web site for DEAD SERIOUS is now open for business. Check out film clips, stills, bios, and news updates. (www.deadserious-movie.com)

We also got word of a new documentary called 'THE SCI-FI BOYS'. "Peter Jackson, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Dennis Muren, Ray Bradbury, Rick Baker, Roger Corman, Ray Harryhausen and other legendary all-stars of cinema bring to life the evolution of science-fiction and special effects films from the wild and funny days of B-movies to blockbusters that have captured the world's imagination. This is the story of the Sci-Fi Boys who started out as kids making amateur movies inspired by Forrest J Ackerman's FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine and grew up to take Hollywood by storm, inventing the art and technology for filming anything the mind can dream. Dennis Muren, 8-time Academy Award winner, shares his childhood space and monster movies for the first time, as do others in "THE SCI-FI BOYS." There's also over an hour of rare bonus material sci-fi treasures."

Also, there's a new publication on the magazine stands to look for, MONDO CULT. "Jessie Lilley and Brad Linaweaver announce the arrival of the new small press magazine Mondo Cult. Mondo Cult is The best of Cult Movies and Worldly Remains in a head on collision of world popular culture including interviews, reviews & essays and encompassing film, television, music and literature. Retail locations and wholesale distributors can be found on the Mondo Cult website at www.mondocult.com."

We know a lot of you our friends of our on My Space.com. (www.myspace.com/iconsoffright). Well, FOX just issued a press release that they will be taking over ALL advertising today to celebrate the release of Alexandre Aja's THE HILLS HAVE EYES, which opens tomorrow. Here's the official word: "'Taking over' MySpace, the second largest site on the internet, as the exclusive advertiser the day before our film opens is an incredible opportunity and exciting way to celebrate the release of THE HILLS HAVE EYES," said Peter Rice, President of Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Based on the original film by fright master Wes Craven, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, directed by Alexandre Aja, is hoping to terrify another generation of film-goers with a revamped version of this chilling cult classic. During this one day advertising take-over, MySpace users have the chance to win a private screening of the thriller with 25 of their friends. By clicking through any ad on the site, users will be directed to the movie's official profile, www.myspace.com/thehillshaveeyesmovie, where they have the option to enter the contest."

And it's no surprise that SAW 3 has officially been announced for a Halloween 2006 release. (October 27th to be exact) The Twisted team of Mark and Oren, along with Darren, James and Leigh, have all agreed to be prominently involved in Saw III. "We have been discussing story lines that extend the Saw franchise to new limits and beyond with Lionsgate for the past several months," said Burg and Koules. "The most important element of any franchise is remaining true to the roots of its success. We believe that we are developing a script that is certain to please the Saw franchise's core fans while adding fresh, terrifying and unimaginable new twists to the Saw saga. Jigsaw himself would be proud." -rg.

So check out SATURDAY: DAY ONE and SUNDAY: DAY TWO of the Chicago FANGO show to see exclusive pictures of George Romero, Tom Savini, Alexandre Aja, Lloyd Kaufman, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon, Ellen Sandweiss, Ellie Cornell, Debbie Rochon, Misty Mundae, Mark Borchardt, Chris Garetano, Tim Sullivan, Wendy Kremer, Christa Campbell, James Gunn, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Jenna Fischer and many, many more! Go look now!!!

With every new edition comes our FRIGHT exclusive interviews, and this month we've got 4 great reads for you fright fiends out there.

We spoke with actor OZ PERKINS, lead of the recent horror-comedy fave 'DEAD & BREAKFAST'. He spoke to us a bit about his experiences in movies, what he remembered from 'Psycho 2' and he shared with us some stories about his father, the late, great Anthony Perkins.

The next batch of interviews are with a few up & coming filmmakers that you MUST keep an eye out for. Adam Barnick spoke with filmmaker STEVE DANIELS, one of the winners from last year's Fangoria Blood Drive Volume 2. And judging from his creepy short film 'The Gibbering Horror Of Howard Ghormley', (which earned huge praise from director Stuart Gordon) he's already on his way to making a lasting impression on fright fans everywhere. Check out his interview and learn about all his hilarious classic short films.

Then, we caught up with JAKE HAMILTON! The other half of the insane duo that brought us the killer short 'Means To An End'. (The first half being Paul Solet) We spoke to Jake about filmmaking, the MEANS full length and how he approachs scoring music to independent projects. Check it out!

Last but not least, Chris Garetano picks yet another classic 'Are You Going?' interview for us to reprint. This month, we're reprinting an interview with New York filmmaker LARRY FESSENDEN, the writer/director behind 'Habit' and 'Wendigo'. Be sure to check out our other 'Are You Going?' reprints on the 'Are You Going?' page!

Our buddy Steven Tsapelas contributes a comic related article this month - 'BrokeBAT Mountain: Understanding A Misunderstood Masterpiece'. Forget 'Brokeback Mountain'. Steve explains why Joel Schumacher's 'BATMAN & ROBIN' is the first true gay Hollywood movie. True, it's not horror related, but hell... it's our site and we love comics too. So, check it out and learn the shocking truth!

Mike C. chimes in with yet another excellent TRILOGY PICKS. This time showcasing on monsters in movies that should be far from frightening. Antagonizing Angoras, Frightful Folders, and Toothy Trojans? Reading is believing. Also, new Techno Weenie post from Vin!!!

Check back tomorrow for a few press release announcments about a slew on independent projects that are in the works! I don't want to call attention away from them with our own content, so I figured I'd list them out as a news item tomorrow.

And the March edition is far from complete! In about a week, we'll have more new articles, including my look at the complete series THE FLASH. (Which features dozens of genre cameos!) New VAULT picks. And a FIRST LOOK at James Gunn's SLITHER! So, stick with us, check back and as always... keep it SICK!!! -robg.

2/22/06
: There's all this talk about the upcoming new FRIDAY THE 13th film. Well, according to Variety a director is already set... and it's Jonathan Liebesman, who started his genre career with 'Darkness Falls' and continued with the excellent short film 'RINGS' and this October's 'TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING'. Initial reports said that this would be prequel & then reports came out that it'd be a remake! Ironically, Mikec. wrote a fictional remake suggestion a few months back to poke fun at the Hollywood crazy remake bandwagon. You can re-read that article HERE. If the new film turns out anything like Mike's sarcastic prediction, we'll sue! All kidding aside, there was talk of getting this movie out by THIS Friday October 13th. This seems highly unlikely, especially since the new Texas Chainsaw will also be out then.

Producer Brad Fuller set the record straight on ALL we've been hearing with Fango last week. "This was such a juicy title, we couldn't pass it up. So we've been talking to Wheaton, and we're figuring it out. Jason didn't really start killing until FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2, so this isn't a remake of the first one. Jason's definitely going to be killing people in our movie. He didn't wear the hockey mask until the third film [pictured], and our Jason is definitely going to wear the mask - so this is how we're going about it right now. It feels to me like it's going to be a re-imagining of..." Fuller says. On releasing it this October, "It was something that was originally discussed, but we don't think we should write a script, find a director, cast a movie, and then make a film [that fast]. It deserves time, and we don't want to rush this. The October date doesn't feel like something we will be doing; plus we have a movie [TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE ORIGIN] coming out a week before. We're not going let a release date dictate the film's quality." You can read Fango's scoops at THIS link.

Wow. Now THIS is cool news. A teaser trailer for the film adaptation of 'PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER' is up on line. Based upon one of my favorite books of the same name by Patrick Suskind (also the inspiration behind the Nirvana song 'Scentless Apprentice'), the film version will be helmed by Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer. Click THIS link to check out this creepy teaser. Can't wait!

Also, visit the Halloween website (at www.halloweenmovies.com) to watch their clip of the month, which is a VH1 segment with actress PJ Soles. In the clip, you'll get a peak at 'DEAD CALLING', the film that Icons own Jsyn and his WICKED EFX crew worked on.

Speaking of PJ, she did an interview recently with the fine folks over at TOXIC SHOCK.TV. Check out that site if you haven't already.

The winner's of the 2005 ICONS OF HORROR ROCK awards are up, thanks to Adam. Also, check the my space profile out.

We've got some great articles, interviews, and another contest planned for the next edition! So check back here in a few days for the full scoop! -rg.

2/10/06: We just got some cool news about one of our favorite filmmakers Park Chan-Wook. His next film is in fact the flick 'I Am A Cyborg, But That's OK'. The project is NOT a sci-fi film like the title implies but it's actually set in a mental institution & is about the romance between two schizophrenics - a woman who thinks she's a cyborg and a man who thinks he can steal people's thoughts. Directly after that, he'll be doing a flick called 'EVIL LIVE' (or is it 'LIVE EVIL'?) He's been talking a while now about doing a vampire movie and it seems 'EVIL LIVE' will be it. Considering how strong his previous films 'OLDBOY', 'Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance' and 'Lady Vengeance' are, we're looking forward to anything he makes in he future! Be on the look-out for Jsyn's article on the "VENGEANCE" trilogy and it's influence on American filmmakers soon.

2/10/06

Columbia is keeping a tight lid on the third movie's story line, though it is known that Gwen is the third part of a love triangle that includes Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson.
