Demonic Creatures and Chainsaws Revved Up For Scream Factory’s April Lineup!!

SF1We previously reported that the gang at Scream Factory are about to make the month of April an awesome one, with the 4/12 double feature of Anthony Perkins-led films DESTROYER and EDGE OF SANITY (link). Personally, that alone is reason enough to celebrate, but any respectable horror fan knows that the SF crew likes to go big. Corin Hardy (the upcoming reboot of THE CROW)’s THE HALLOW is arriving April 5th, with the tale of a man up against a demonic entity, loosened from the wilderness around it.  We had a short chat with Hardy last year, and it’s definitely enough to get genre fans excited for this Scream Factory/IFC Midnight team-up release.

          Arriving April 5th

When a London-based conservationist is sent to Ireland with his wife and infant child to survey an area of forest believed to be hallowed ground by superstitious locals, his actions unwittingly disturb a horde of demonic creatures who prey upon the lost. Alone and deep within the darkness of the remote wilderness, he must now fight back to protect his family against the ancient forces’ relentless attacks.

Starring Joseph Mawle (The Awakening, Game of Thrones) and Bojana Novakovic (Devil, Drag Me to Hell), The Hallow marks acclaimed visual stylist Corin Hardy’s feature directorial debut, displaying a technical elegance, eye-catching practical effects, and sophisticated approach to the macabre in this modern and disquieting horror fable.

And the release that is sure to be one of the year’s all in Collector’s Edition releases, Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2, a tw-disc extravaganza that will feature over (TEN!!) hours of supplemental material, as well as a brand new 2K HD scan of the film. TCM 2 has been on of my favorites for most of my life, and the tongue in cheeck cult classic is sure to look better than ever before, when it hits Bluray on April 19th.

In 1974, horror fans rejoiced upon the release of Tobe Hooper’s masterpiece, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie raised the stakes of in-your-face filmmaking and changed the face of horror. Twelve years later, Hooper and the Sawyer clan are back with this deviously entertaining sequel, starring Dennis Hopper in one of the most deliciously crazed performances of his career.

For a decade, Texas Ranger Lefty Enright (Hopper) has sought to avenge the brutal murder of his kin by the cannibalistic Sawyer family – Leatherface, Chop-Top, The Cook and Grandpa. With the help of a radio DJ (Caroline Williams), who’s also bent on putting an end to the terror, Lefty finds his way to the Sawyers’ underground slaughter shop, where a battle of epic proportions will soon rage… and the line between good and evil gets chopped to bits!
