Cult Classic SONNY BOY Gets January Bluray Release Via Scream Factory

sflogoRobert Martin Carroll’s 1989 shocker SONNY BOY is one odd film. Displaying one of David Carradine’s most memorable roles as a kidnapping transvestite, the film is an off-kilter horror gem, teaming Carradine with CRIMEWAVE star Paul L. Smith and the always entertaining Brad Dourif (CHILD’S PLAY, THE EXORCIST III) for a tale of violence and revenge. It’s a movie that you have to experience to believe, and thanks to the gang at Scream Factory, January 26th is the day that you fright fanatics will get the chance to do just that, with a brand new Bluray release that features two brand new commentaries and a digital copy of the film’s screenplay (awesome, right?!).

In a remote desert town, a psychopathic petty crook (Smith) and his transvestite girlfriend (Carradine) kidnap an orphaned infant, cage it like an animal, and train it to steal and kill on their command. Years later, when the half-wild Sonny Boy escapes and embarks on a bloody rampage, the couple’s monstrous attempt at “child development” provokes the local populace into vengeful retaliation. Unlike any film you’ve ever seen, Sonny Boy is an unsettling, wildly bizarre allegory on the devastating effects of child abuse and the violent consequences that follow.
