The man of your dreams is returning! That’s right, Freddy Krueger is being resurrected once more by “the house that Freddy built”, New Line Cinema.
Sources say that ORPHAN and THE CONJURING 2: THE ENFIELD POLTERGEIST screenwriter David Leslie Johnson is taking a slice at remaking A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET once more. No major plot details were revealed since it’s in the early stages of development, but of course we can expect our favorite dream demon to return for another round of sleepless nights!
It’s no surprise that Platinum Dunes’ take on Freddy didn’t lead to a sequel after universal disappointment from critics and fans alike. Jackie Earle Haley’s donning of the fedora and glove was easily the highlight, but it wasn’t enough to save it from being an all around soulless production.
There’s no production company attached currently, which has left me to speculate just a little, so humor me here. Might we see Blumhouse, the current micro-budget reigning champion of horror, step in and apply their aesthetic to this franchise? Hopefully more is revealed soon as cast and crew come aboard.
Regardless, are you ready for another trip down Elm Street? What would you want to see in this new iteration? Sound off below, and sweet dreams!
