Things have been quiet on the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY front, Blumhouse’s inaugural found footage, fright-fest franchise that’s been dragging people out of bed and down the hallway since 2007. The better-than-expected spinoff THE MARKED ONES further opened up the mythology behind Grandma Lois and her demonic lackey Toby, leaving us waiting with bated breath for the next installment.
After a couple of false starts, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is back, and this one aims to be the final scare. Curiously titled THE GHOST DIMENSION, the debut trailer stresses that every question you’ve ever had will be answered; Toby, the witch coven, that time-traveling door, THE GHOST DIMENSION assures it’ll tie it all together. We get glimpses of a dark entity that is more than likely Toby, and there are dozens of callbacks and connections to the previous films for fans to study.
PA 2, 3, 4 and THE MARKED ONES editor Gregory Plotkin is taking the reigns on directing duties for what’s presumably the last in the series, according to Blumhouse president Jason Blum. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION opens in theaters everywhere in this October.
