Image Entertainment Acquires “Coming of Rage” tale JUNE

ScreenHunter_06 Jun. 22 11.14Image Entertainment/RLJ seem to be everywhere these days, with picking up titles ranging from Joe Dante’s BURYING THE EX to one that I’m excited as hell to check out, Adam Egypt Mortimer’s SOME KIND OF HATE. Adding yet another interesting title to the mix, Image/RLJ has announced their acquisition of L. Gustavo Cooper’s JUNE, which is being described as a “coming of rage” film, which sounds like something I could definitely be on board with.  Having previously directed THE DEVIL INCARNATE, Cooper’s new film deals with a nine year old girl cursed with having a demon living inside of her. Sounds like a fun time to me. Co-written by Sharon Y. Cobb (On Hostile Ground), JUNE stars Kennedy Brice (Fox’s “Red Band Society,” AMC’s “The Walking Dead”), Casper Van Dien (Sleepy Hollow, Starship Troopers) and Victoria Pratt (Hush Little Baby, Mutant X).

Regarding the acquisition announcement, RLJ’s Chief Acquisition Officer, Mark Ward, had the following to say about the film: “L Gustavo Cooper brings a new twist in this coming-of-age films, with a great cast and a unique story, JUNE will give fans a new perspective to the genre.” The deal was negotiated by Ward on behalf of RLJ Entertainment and Raven Banner’s Michael Paszt and James Fler on behalf of the filmmakers.
