Jason Lives! New FRIDAY THE 13th Video Game Due Oct 2015!

Look, I’ll be honest. I’m not much of a video game buff these days. I fell out of video games a long time ago and now feel like an idiot that I never got the hang of first person perspective games. I have enough anxiety as it is. However, I unapologetically loved and was terrified by the Nintendo video game version of FRIDAY THE 13TH. Sure, the game was difficult as hell, I would always get killed in the cave and Jason was purple, but there was always something ominous and creepy about that game. And like many of you out there, I remained obsessed with it all these years later. I seriously had MP3’s made of the video game score and currently have it in my iTunes. THAT’s how much I love the FRIDAY THE 13TH video game. And can you believe, there hasn’t been another attempt for a Jason game in 25 years? Until now!

We got the scoop from our friends over at Bloody-Disgusting who in turn got it from EGM, a FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE VIDEO GAME. According to the report, the game (currently in development for multiple platforms and due out October of 2015 “will reportedly be an asymmetrical, co-operative and competitive multiplayer predator/prey horror experience that pits a small group of resourceful survivors against a single player in control of the immortal, relentless slasher icon.” Series creator Sean Cunnigham said in the press release, “With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect.”

I’m willing to come out of video game retirement for this.
