Image Entertainment announced the acquisition of action/thriller ROADSIDE, directed by CONTRACTED/MADISON COUNTY helmer, Eric England and co-produced by Ace Marrero of Swim with the Fish Productions, Daniel F. Dunn of Dunn-Rite Productions and Eric England .

While ROADSIDE was filmed after MADISON COUNTY and before CONTRACTED, it’s great to hear news of it finally seeing the light of day, as it sounds like an awesome throwback to suspenseful thrillers full of twists, instead of yet another carbon copy version of something else like a lot of what’s hitting shelves these days. Busy as always, England has also recently wrapped another film, GET THE GIRL, from a story by Icons of Fright friend, Graham Denman (THE DIVINE TRAGEDIES).

Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions not only announced the acquisition today but also had the following to say:
“The suspense and timing of the scenes on this film hark back to the days of Hitchcock,” said Ward. “These are the elements audiences are looking for in a thriller and we’re excited to be working with Eric, Daniel and Ace again.”

ROADSIDE tells the story of Dan and Mindy Summers, who are on a road trip along a desolate mountain highway. When Dan is forced to exit the SUV to remove a dead tree blocking their path, their journey takes a turn. They suddenly find themselves held hostage on the side of the road, and trapped in their car by a mysterious gunman. They must fight for their lives in a sadistic game of cat and mouse set against a backdrop of numbing cold, pitch darkness and raw terror. ROADSIDE drips with suspense until the very last frame.”
