Upcoming TALES OF HALLOWEEN Anthology Boasts GREAT Horror Lineup!!; Begins Shooting In November!

photo (3)I’m an anthology nut. Sure there are definitely a decent amount of uneven and/or straight up bad ones, but the ones that do it right, REALLY work well for me. I just love the idea of horror filmmakers taking the short form of filmmaking and telling quality stories in a limited amount of time, which makes this announcement that much more exciting to write about.

Epic Pictures Group, the studio responsible for BIG ASS SPIDER!, THE AGGRESSION SCALE, SUSHI GIRL and many other popular genre films, have announced their deal to finance and produce TALES OF HALLOWEEN, a horror anthology boasting a pretty impressive roster of genre directors each putting their own stamp on the anthology format. The lineup includes Joe Begos (Almost Human), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV, THE BARRENS), Axelle Carolyn (Soulmate), Adam Gierasch (Night of the Demons, FRACTURED), Andrew Kasch (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), Neil Marshall (The Descent), Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!), Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red), Ryan Schifrin (Abominable), John Skipp (Stay at Home Dad), and Paul Solet (Grace). Directors Kasch and Skipp are set to co-direct one of the short films together.

The idea of the anthology and bringing the lineup together was that of Axelle Carolyn’s, and Carolyn, along with Marshall, Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson of Epic Pictures Group are set to co-produce the film together.  “It’s so great to be working with such a unique and talented group of directors,” Neil Marshall stated. “Many of ‘The October Society’ have been friends for years so when Axelle had the idea of combining our talents for an anthology based on our mutual love of Halloween and all things scary, it was a no-brainer. I can’t wait for this to become a must-watch movie for horror fans on many a Halloween night to come!”

Carolyn had the following to say regarding the project: “This anthology movie is unique in that that the directors aren’t a randomly assembled bunch who’ve never met; they’re close friends who are working closely together as a team to deliver something truly special.

Holding themselves to what they called the “anti-thesis to the ‘Dogma ’95’ approach”, each filmmaker will refrain from holding back from having great special effects and INSIDIOUS and THE CONJURING composer Joseph Bishara, along with BIG BAD WOLVES composer Frank Ilfman are just two people already tapped to bring the anthology’s music to life.

TALES OF HALLOWEEN is set to be shot in November and will be taken to the 2014 American Film Market. More on this one as it is announced, as we’re incredibly excited about what looks like to could possible be one hell of a collaborative anthology!
