HalloweenCostumes.com Gives a Look Back at the Many Faces of LEATHERFACE!!

This is pretty awesome. The folks at HalloweenCostumes.com wanted to celebrate the 40th anniversary of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and its iconic Leatherface character and sent this awesome artwork/infographic (props to Jacob Kuddes, Jimm McShane and Marlon Heimerl for doing an excellent job on it!) our way. I don’t know about you fright fanatics, but I absolutely love things like this, as it’s always cool to sit back and think about all of the exploits of some of your favorite horror characters and we can all agree that Leatherface (Sawyer, Hewitt, whichever you prefer) has had some fun ones thus far in the series. Check this out, read what the team over there wrote about it and by all means, check out HalloweenCostumes.com for some pretty awesome Halloween attire.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was first released forty years ago in 1974. What nobody knew at the time was just how influential the independent film with a miniscule budget would be, or what lasting effects it would have on the horror genre. The original was followed by six other films in the Texas Chainsaw series, and it inspired countless imitators. Of all the slasher icons, Leatherface is possibly the most recognizable – regardless of whose face he’s wearing.

In honor of his 40th birthday, we revisited each film in the franchise, researched the details of their production, and meticulously scrutinized which kills should or should not be credited to Leatherface. Over forty years and seven movies, Leatherface and his family have gone through a surprising number of changes:”

Pretty awesome, right? While Voorhees, Myers and Krueger might have had larger numbers when it came to taking out unlucky victims, every time Leatherface took someone out, it was pretty unsettling, and it’s crazy to think that Tobe Hooper’s classic is now 40 years old. Props to the HalloweenCostumes.com team for whipping this up. Also, if you haven’t done so yet, be sure to pick up Dark Sky Films’ newly released 4-disc 40th Anniversary Collector’s edition of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (also check out the rerelease trailer, edited by UNDER THE BED/SILENT NIGHT director Steven C. Miller)!
