FRIDAY THE 13TH Is Being Turned Into An Hour-Long TV Series!

*UPDATE– Added links to the official Crystal Lake FB/Twitter pages, where info will be updated continuously!

With a new FRIDAY THE 13TH film on the horizon for 2015, Sean S. Cunningham and Crystal Lake Entertainment are getting in on the action by bringing Jason to television. The yet-to-be-titled, hour-long series (it was being developed as CRYSTAL LAKE CHRONICLES) will be set in Crystal Lake, and will delve into the backstory of our favorite hockey-masked wearing slasher through ” multiple time periods.”  Huh? We’re just as confused by that last bit as you are. The series will have a contemporary setting, but does this mean we’ll see the murderous exploits of Pamela Voorhees before Jason dons the hockey mask and begins his decades of killing?

From Deadline, Cunningham says “Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide.

As I’m sure you well know, FRIDAY THE 13TH saw an in name-only series back in 1987, so this will be the first time we’ll see the film universe hit the small screen. Whether this ends up being a glossy, CWesque drama or more in vein of stylized, graphic fare like AMERICAN HORROR STORY or HANNIBAL remains to be seen, but I’d like to be excited if only for the return of seeing Jason back in his element. What say you?
