New Book Focusing On Career Of Dario Argento, THE ARGENTO SYNDROME Now Out, LA Signing In May!

When it comes to reading  books on any of the filmmakers that have help shaped the genre that I love so dearly, if you’re like me, the more interviews with the creative people involved in said filmmaker’s career, the better. I love reading about the stories, the wins, the losses and everything in between, and sometimes the horror stories of certain productions are the ones that stay with me after putting the book down. Fans of Dario Argento who are looking for quite the in-depth book about the Italian “master of horror”, can now rejoice, as Icons of Fright-friend Derek Botelho’s “The Argento Syndrome” is now available for mass consumption. Years in the making, the book features an essay on pretty much every film that the Italian maestro has made to date, complete with interviews with everyone from Dario’s daughter Asia to GIALLO co-writer Sean Keller and pretty much everyone in between, including John Carpenter.

A retrospective of Italian auteur Dario Argento’s films; The Argento Syndrome is an examination of a career marked by such genre classics as The Bird with the Crystal PlumageSuspiria, Deep RedTenebrae and OperaThe Argento Syndrome is part academic study, with essays on every film, and part personal memoir, detailing the author’s time in Italy on a trip to visit the set of Non Ho Sonno. Also included are several full-length interviews with such personalities as John Carpenter, Tony Musante, and Asia Argento.”
