Greetings Fright fans! Rob G here. For those of you that have been with us since our humble beginnings, you may have heard us bring up the name Steve Daniels before. Our staffer Adam Barnick did a pretty lengthy Icons interview with him all the way back in 2006! And his short film THE GIBBERING HORROR OF HOWARD GHORMLEY was featured on Fangoria’s Blood Drive Volume 2 DVD release. Ever since then, he’s been steadily cranking out film after film and always continues to impress the hell out of us. For those of you who don’t know, I co-host a weekly horror talk show podcast called Killer POV for GeekNation. (You can find it on iTunes as well.) And on our most recent episode, we had very special guest Jeremy Gardner who wrote, directed and starred in the impressive low budget indie THE BATTERY, along with AJ Bowen who has appeared on-screen for several low budget well regarded indie horror films such as THE SIGNAL, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL and A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE. Along with us here on Icons, he’s a huge advocate for the underdog; the filmmakers that have unique voices and continue to create art whether anyone’s paying attention or not. And he brought up Steve Daniels and we lamented that it’s not fair we don’t already have a feature length film from the guy! He’s a fella from South Carolina and a cross between early frenetic Sam Raimi meets Guillermo del Toro. So, since we mentioned his work on the show, I felt it only fair to showcase some of the short films that made us fall in love with him to begin with. Be sure to subscribe and/or bookmark his You Tube page! So kick back, dim the lights, turn up your sound and check out this variety (and I mean variety) of shorts by the ultra-talented Steve Daniels. Hope you dig ’em!
