Cult home video distributor Vinegar Syndrome is somewhat new onto the scene, but their releases have already cemented them as one of the top labels around. To further make my point, take VS’s upcoming release of NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR, an 80s horror anthology they’re bowing onto Blu-ray with a sterling new 2k transfer. Not only is it being presented in it’s original aspect ratio for the first time, but it comes with a bonus film and a slew of bonus features. Truly a deluxe package for a film that’s somewhat obscure, but exactly why these boutique companies deserve our support. It makes it even more baffling when major studios like Warner Bros and Paramount still can’t give the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise the definitive home video treatment, but the little guys are giving bizarro oddities Criterion-esque care. That’s a conversation for another day though!
