A few months ago it was announced that MGM was planning a remake of the 1982 Tobe Hooper (or Steven Spielgberg, depending on who you ask) directed haunted house film POLTERGEIST. Speculation was that Sam Raimi was going to direct it, but almost instantly Raimi announced that he was only on board as one of the producers.
Today, thanks to DEADLINE, it’s been announced that MONSTER HOUSE & CITY OF EMBER director Gil Kenan has been tapped to helm the remake, with Raimi, Nathan Kahane, and Roy Lee (the man responsible for bringing the states countless remakes, including THE DEPARTED, THE RING, THE GRUDGE as well as the upcoming BATES MOTEL show) all producing.
Being a huge fan of the original, and with Raimi on board, I’m somewhat optomistic, what about you Fright Fiends??
