Finally! Last year at SCREAMFEST LA, I had the opportunity to catch the flick CASSADAGA, the second feature from filmmaker Anthony DiBlasi, who wrote and directed DREAD, one of the few faithful and solid Clive Barker adaptations. At the time of the screening, I knew next to nothing about CASSADAGA, but ended up blown away by the movie. While it had a theatrical release overseas, it has remained unreleased here in the States… until now! Variety reports that Archstone Distribution will open the film in 10 markets in the latter half of 2013. From the article, “We feel that there is hole in the market for high grade independent titles,” said Archstone prez Brady Bowen. “Many of our producers want to see their film released in theaters and we can offer that service to them.” CASSADAGA starring Kelen Coleman and Kevin Alejandro (TRUE BLOOD), will open in the top 10 markets in the second half of the year. Movie, written and produced by Scott Poiley and Bruce Wood, centers on a girl seeking solace in a spiritualist community for the death of her younger sister.
