Hot on the heels of the DVD/Blu-Ray announcement from earlier this week that V/H/S would be hitting home video on December 4th, word has come through The Hollywood Reporter that a sequel is in the works and already shooting! Directors for V/H/S/2 include Gareth Evans (THE RAID: REDEMPTION), Eduardo Sanchez (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT), Jason Eisener (HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN), Timo Tjahjanto (MACABRE), Adam Wingard (A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE, YOU’RE NEXT) and writer Simon Barrett making his directorial debut.
The first movie followed a group of students hired to break into a desolate house to find a lost VHS tape, paving the way for the movie to go into a series of found-footage stories directed by up-and-coming genre filmmakers. The new movie follows a similar structure, with a pair of investigators discovering a tape while looking for a student.
V/H/S/2 is being produced and financed by the Collective in association with genre brand Bloody Disgusting, which began life as a horror website but has now branched out into producing, among other things.
The original producing team of Gary Binkow, Bloody Disgusting’s Brad Miska and The Collective’s Roxanne Benjamin are back, while Wingard and Barrett are now joining Site B’s Zak Zeman and Bloody Disgusting’s Tom Owen as executive producers.
The movie is shooting in L.A., Maryland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Indonesia.
