BEYOND FRIGHT: Song(s) Of The Week – Sebadoh “Skull” & The Misfits “Skulls”
Happy Friday, Fright Fiends! And apologies for missing the last few “Song Of The Week” updates, but alas, how ’bout I hit you with two instead of one? And since it’s the Halloween season, I’ve opted to go for two with the word “Skull” in the title. One horror themed, one not at all, but both good tunes on the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of my musical tastes.
First up, Lou Barlow and company from the band Sebadoh with the track “Skull”. I was a big lover of all things Sub Pop in the 90′s and while the reference to “skull” in the track is more about what someone can mentally do to your mind metaphorically rather than physically when you first meet them, I still just love this semi-sappy song. Check it out…
And for those looking for a more literal song that involves “skulls”, what’s the Halloween season without The Misfits?! So how ’bout a more ICONS/horror appropriate song with “Skulls”.
And I’ll leave you with somewhat that’s somewhat of a cool mix of the above two – Fright friend and writer extraordinaire Sean Keller does a killer (pun intended) acoustic version of The Misfits “Skulls” so check that out below!
