Earlier this month, production began on a brand new CHILD’S PLAY sequel titled CURSE OF CHUCKY. While the basic synopsis (listed below as part of the full press release) gives the impression that this new entry will have little to do with the previous films in the franchise, Don Mancini is writing and directing the latest Chucky movie hence giving it the same creative flavor of Part’s 2-5. And now, the following image below has surfaced on-line. Could this be the slightly new & improved design for Chucky as he’ll appear in CURSE OF CHUCKY?

We currently don’t have any confirmation, just this one still circulating on various CHILD’S PLAY fansites and message boards. Since cameras started rolling on September 5th, it wouldn’t be surprising if this is the real deal. (And hell, he looks pretty cool the the scarring around the eye.) For now consider this a potential first look. Below is all the info on CURSE OF CHUCKY!
The sixth installment of the frightening Child’s Play thriller franchise, Curse of Chucky, begins principal photography in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on September 5, 2012. The franchise comes full circle as Toyland’s most gruesome serial killer returns in a horrifying all-new movie from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Studios HomeEntertainment. .

“Since his introduction to audiences in Child’s Play almost a quarter-century ago, Chucky has haunted the nightmares of a generation of moviegoers,” said Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment. “Returning to his roots in one of the most provocative horror franchises, this new sequel will shock longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike.”

Curse of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif (The Master, “True Blood,” “Deadwood”), A Martinez (“Longmire,” “General Hospital”), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart, “CSI: Miami”) and Brennan Elliott (Flight 93, Double Jeopardy). Brad Dourif (The Lord of the Rings, Dune) once again returns to provide the voice of Chucky, the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray, who returns to settle some unfinished business.

The film is directed by Don Mancini, the Child’s Play franchise creator who has written or co-written each of the previous movies and was the director of Seed of Chucky. Also an integral part of the Child’s Play franchise from inception, David Kirschner (An American Tail, Hocus Pocus, Bride of Chucky) produces from a screenplay by Mancini. The film’s top-flight production team includes special-effects wizard Tony Gardner (Zombieland, Seed of Chucky), production designer Craig Sandells (Mother’s Day) and costume designer Patricia J. Henderson (ATM).

SYNOPSIS: Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

  1. This is a master replica that people can buy. This is NOT what Chucky will look like in the new film. Where the hell do you people get your info?

  2. How is he not gonna have stitches after what happened in the third one cause i mean after all the complaints from andy im pretty sure the good guy company wouldnt want to continue with the making of these dolls so unless whoever mailed the doll stole a brand new doll from the factory in 1991 and saved it till 2013 hes gonna have stitches and question is this taking place in the 90’s or in 2013 oh and i dnt like the stitches either but it’s just common sense that he has the stitches

    1. There’s nothing “common sense” about it if even YOU don’t know the full details of the story. There were hundreds of dolls made in the years the Good Guys were popular. For all you know, one of the new characters brings him back to life hoping to get everyone killed off. Either way, there are production photos of the guys putting the new doll together and there are NO stitchings. So your “common sense” and this lame article that pulled a random photo out if nowhere because they have nothing else to write about today, FAIL.

  3. fake photo this is a toy you can buy abit to small to be chucky they will always use the same chucky with or without stitches

    1. I’m pretty sure what Rob meant was that Don Mancini is the sole writer of the new film, which he has been since 2, hence the “same creative flavor”. There were at least three people who helped write the first one.

        1. Tom Holland wrote and directed the first CHILD’S PLAY and his absence from the sequels is obvious if you compare them to the first movie. You should listen to the FREE commentary we recorded with him for CHILD’S PLAY where he explains what the script was like before he jumped on board & how he created “Charles Lee Ray” rather than using a killer doll named “Buddy” That’s also talked about in the official commentary on the DVD release. In other words, I know exactly what I’m talking about.

  4. Every one can calm down. I never got the chance to post the full press release regarding the beginning of production on CURSE, so I did so here and paired it up with the photo floating around on-line. I said in the article “Could this be the slightly new & improved design for Chucky as he’ll appear in CURSE OF CHUCKY?” and ”
We currently don’t have any confirmation” so there. By the way, you’re welcome to enjoy our FREE CHILD’S PLAY commentary we did with writer/director Tom Holland for no other reason than we’re actual fans doing stuff for free for other fans. Or check out the extensive 200 plus interviews we’ve conducted for you guys instead of focusing on one article about the 6th entry in an extremely tired franchise.

  5. No this would be a custom bride of chucky doll made by a company in Argentina. I used to have one and my friend also has one lol. Who ever said that this was the doll in the movie is insane because that means thousands of people own it. This post is so wrong.

  6. I hope that Chucky wont look too different in the movie. The best model of Chucky so far was in Child’s Play 1. It looked cute, scary, demonic and sinister with a human touch all at the same time. Since then there has not been one movie of Chucky that had a better looking doll than the first.

  7. Child’s Play 1 was the best of all the Chucky movies so far. Probably the best horror thriller ever made. Chucky is the best of the horror/slasher genre. If they make Chucky different I hope they make his body a bit more proportioned so that his arms can go above his head like a human can. Make him look fairly strong because that’s what he is supposed to be and keep the creepy light blue eyes from the first movie. It would be cool if Chucky starts looking clean and fresh and ends up looking more like a wreck as the movie progresses due to all the gunshots, explosions and everything that gets thrown at him.
