Adam Green’s Hatchet films have built a reputation of not only being incredibly gory & jaw-droppingly inventive thanks to the advent of good ‘ol practical effects, but also for it’s casting which is essentially The Avengers of the horror genre. Green’s debut film assembled horror titans such as Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, Tony Todd & effects legend John Carl Buechler, while the sequel expanded on that – adding new blood into the mix with cult-fan favorites Danielle Harris, A.J. Bowen, R.A. Mihailoff and even veteran director Tom Holland!
The currently deep in pre-production HATCHET 3 (they begin filming next week!) is definitely honoring that tradition by adding a heap of newcomers to the film including neo Jason Voorhees Derek Mears, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2‘s Caroline Williams, The Collector‘s Diane Goldner, The FP & upcoming Vs Jason Trost and last but not least The People Under The Stairs‘ Sean Whalen!
Derek Mears is playing a badass (as usual) SWAT officer tasked with handling the situation that is Victor Crowley (again played by the indisputable Kane Hodder), with Danielle Harris also back as the tough as nails, revenge fueled Marybeth. Hatchet I & II camera operator B.J. McDonnell is making his directorial debut, with creator/director Adam Green serving as writer/producer this time around. Word is there’s still plenty of exciting announcements to be made, so keep your eyes peeled here for all things Hatchet. Frightful readers, are you excited to see Victor Crowley rip, slice and destroy again on the big screen? Anyone pumped to see two generations of Jason Voorhees go head-to-head? Sound off in the comments!
Synopsis: “A search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces as Marybeth learns the secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.”
