See The POV Of A MANIAC! First Teaser Trailer!

Just a few days ago, we got a look at the first few images from Frank Khalfoun’s MANIAC in anticipation of the films’ premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. And now, we have a teaser trailer… well, sort of. It’s about a minute and a half of a trailer and it seems to cut off a bit abruptly, but regardless it’s the first footage from the update and it seems to not only be MANIAC in spirit, but offers a unique POV of the title character for a good chunk of it; an interesting approach to a “slasher” flick to say the least.

In a stroke of cool casting, Elijah Wood plays Frank Zito which was originated by the late great Joe Spinell in William Lustig’s 1980 version.  Alex Aja and Gregory Levasseur wrote the script and also produce as they did on Khalfoun’s P2.

Synopsis: “Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
