No, it’s not for a new PSYCHO movie and no, this isn’t casting for the proposed BATES MOTEL TV pilot in the works, but instead, it seems the movie version of ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO is moving full speed ahead!
Adapted from the book by Stephen Rebello which chronicles the making of Hitchcock’s now notorious and most famous film, the feature film version to be helmed by director Sacha Gervasi has already had both Anthony Hopkins attached as Alfred Hitchcock along with Helen Mirren as his wife Alma. Now word comes in on the casting of PSYCHO’s two lead actors.
James D’Arcy will be portraying Anthony Perkins in the film, with Scarlett Johansson set to play Janet Leigh. Here’s a look at the actors side by side:

Fox Searchlight is producing the pic from a script by John McLaughlin. Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck and Tom Pollack will produce through their Montecito Picture Company along with Tom Thayer. Filming is set to begin shortly for a 2013 release! Good to have some much deserved attention focused back on the PSYCHO legacy!
