VIDEO – Stephen King on New Novel 11/22/63 and DR. SLEEP (THE SHINING sequel)!

We’ve got a few Stephen King goodies for you this afternoon! First up, here’s a quick promotional video/interview with the author about his latest novel 11/22/63, which is the writer’s first foray into the concept of time travel!? Here’s a quick synopsis: “On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back?” Sounds a bit like THE DEAD ZONE. 11/22/63 is available on November 8th! Check out the video below:

Also interesting, Stephen King had announced last month that he was working on a sequel to THE SHINING titled DR. SLEEP which features little Danny Torrance all grown up and dealing with… psychic vampires? Could that be right? Here’s a clip of King talking about, then reading a passage from DR. SLEEP, which according to his website, “includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.” Check it:

Transcript from his intro: “This is an idea that I’ve had for some time. I wrote a novel in the ’70s called The shining… I always wondered what happened to that kid, Danny Torrance, when he grew up… and this story started to form. The book isn’t finished yet, it’s called Dr. Sleep. This kinda goes back to: what’s the worst thing you can think of? I knew that there were bad people in this story that were like vampires, only that what they sucked out was not blood, but psychic energy from special people like Danny Torrance. And I came to realize that these people were called The Tribe and that they move around a lot. Their leader is a woman called Rose [unintelligible] they all have these kinda pirate names, because pirates is sort of what they are.”
