Icons of Fright regrets to inform it’s readers of the passing of Forrest J. Ackerman, one of the true upperclassman curators of the horror genre. Ackerman passed away December 4th at age 92 after a long illness. Long renowned for his devotion to the horror and science-fiction genres with his numerous contributions, publication of the landmark and groundbreaking magazine FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND and extensive memorabilia and prop collection.

Icons of Fright sends our deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Mr. Ackerman. He certainly laid the foundations upon which those of us at Icons of Fright and many of our friends and colleagues in the horror world continue to build upon today. Rest in peace, good sir. We will publish a full-length tribute to this horror legend shortly.

I worked with Forry on a movie called “Nudist Colony of the Dead.” He played the part of “Judge Rhinhole.” Great guy, nice guy,a pro. I think he coined the term “sci-fi.” We’ll miss him.
