FANGORIA recently caught up with writer/director Adam Green to discuss his recently announced feature FROZEN, and the filmmaker dropped some tid-bits about HATCHET 2. "The phone keeps ringing and people are trying real hard to get me to commit to doing it," Green told FANGO. "And I can tell you that it is going to happen. At one point, I was just going to write it, but now I’m hearing all these stories about how I’m going to direct it too, and I can definitely tell you that I haven’t agreed to do that."
He confesses that timing is what will decide if he’ll return to the director’s chair. "The situation is that I’m committed to FROZEN, which I start shooting in February, and then I’m doing a romantic comedy that Chris Columbus is producing called GOD ONLY KNOWS. Right now, the HATCHET people are saying they would like the movie to be in theaters next September, and I don’t know if I can do the best job as director under those circumstances."
He explains what we can expect from the eventual sequel when it does roll before camera. "HATCHET 2 is going to start on the same night as the first film ended, and in the very next frame. I have no reason to think that Kane Hodder won’t be back, even if I’m not directing. Victor Crowley is his character. If it’s my story, Tony Todd will be back, and Joel David Moore as well."
