PSYCHO 2-Disc Special Edition DVD Out October 7th!

Universal has announced a new special edition of Alfred Hitchcock’s landmark classic film PSYCHO for release on October 7th, 2008. Funny… looking over the features for this "LEGACY" series DVD, it doesn’t look like there’s much more then what was on the original release of PSYCHO. (PSYCHO? LEGACY? Wonder where they came up with that?) Features and artwork are listed below. Sadly, there’s still no love for the PSYCHO sequels from Universal. Hmmm… thankfully, ICONS is producing a documentary on the PSYCHO series, primarily about the sequels. So those films will get their due! (Rest assured!)

Title: Psycho
Starring: Anthony Perkins
Released: 7th October 2008
SRP: $26.98

Further Details:
Universal Home Video has announced a 2-disc special edition of Psycho which stars Anthony Perkins, and Janet Leigh. The set will be available to own from the 7th October, and should retail at $26.98. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Mono track. The full disc specs are attached below, and we’ll bring you the official package artwork shortly. Stay tuned.

Universal has that whole Legacy series for their classics. There was an excellent To Kill a Mockingbird Legacy DVD a couple of years ago. But how many times do they expect people to buy a repackaged DVD?!!? I had it once on a DVD, then I got the Hitchcock Collection so why do I need this one? Maybe if it were a Blu-ray release I’d consider it but the DVDs in the Hitchcock Collection set look stellar upconverted on a Blu-ray player.
