Filmmaker Richard Kelly’s latest film THE BOX (based on the Richard Matherson story BUTTON BUTTON), which stars Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Langella will hit theaters on March 29th, 2009 as revealed by Warner Bros. earlier today. The film is about "Norma and Arthur Lewis who are faced with a terrible dilemma when a mysterious glass box turns up at their door. If they press the button inside the box, they’ll get enough money to save their ailing son, but in exchange, someone, somewhere in the world will die. When the temptation to save their beloved son becomes too much to bear, Norma pushes the button. Immediately, a gunshot rings out somewhere nearby. Consumed with guilt, Norma must do everything in her power to solve a murder she has knowingly caused."
Kelly of course was the writer and director of the cult classic DONNIE DARKO, and followed it up with SOUTHLAND TALES. Hopefully, THE BOX will be more DONNIE DARKO and less SOUTHLAND TALES or DONNIE DARKO: DIRECTOR’S CUT. Check out a few production stills below:
