Things were so hectic at this past weekend’s LA FANGO show, that sadly I missed Clive Barker’s panel. However, SHOCK caught it, and the big scoop of the panel was the announcement of the next BOOKS OF BLOOD adaptation making it’s way to the big screen. Anthony DiBlasi is writing and directing DREAD based on Barker’s short story. The flick is currently casting and looking to shoot by June. Barker’s Seraphim Films is producing DREAD. According to SHOCK, "Eclipse adapted Barker’s story for the comic book medium in the ’90s with writer Steve Niles and artist Dan Brereton." As for the synopsis? "In the story, Quaid, a student of philosophy, is obsessed by his own nightmare of an ax-murdering clown so he concocts a series of experiments to observe firsthand how other people react to the things that most horrify them. But while Quaid slowly unpeels the psyches of his imprisoned and tortured captives like a reeking onion, his own dread waits, just beyond his control." With MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN right around the corner, and DiBlasi at the helm for this new flick, count us excited for DREAD!
