Because we’re such big fans of fashion magazines here at Icons of Fright we thought we’d pass this tidbit along. Vanity Fair magazine will feature a photo spread of big-name stars recreating 11 famous stills from Alfred Hitchcock’s films. Hey, no matter what you think of fashion rags, this does sound pretty neat. This photos and stars will include…
-Seth Rogan recreating the crop dusting from “North by Northwest”
-Jodie Foster recreating Tippi Hedren in the phone booth in “The Birds”
-Renee Zellweger as Kim Novak in bell tower from “Vertigo”
Also included, but whose recreations haven’t been revealed yet, are Casey Affleck, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Julie Christie, Marion Cotillard, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Foster, Emile Hirsch, Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, James McAvoy, Omar Metwally, Gwyneth Paltrow, Eva Marie Saint, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts, and Tang Wei.
One of the photographers who shot two of the recreations, Art Streiber, explains, ““What makes these scenes so impressive is that they don’t last long in the movies, but they have become classic. They hold up 50, 60 years later, as stills, without dialogue. You know immediately what it is.”
Vanity Fair has posted a behind-the-scenes video documenting the making of this photo spread here.. And you can get a look at Seth Rogan in the “North by Northwest” recreation here.
