POLTERGEIST: SPECIAL EDITION! BASKET CASE 2! DEATH PROOF! PLANET TERROR DVD’s!

One of my fave websites on the web, DavisDVD.com is reporting the specs on a few really cool new horror titles! Finally, a POLTERGEIST Special Edition is on it’s way. (Figures I already own the bare-bones one, as well as the 2/3 double feature). Also, BASKET CASE 2 finally hits Region 1 DVD courtesy of those fine fiends at Synapse Films. And the covers and full specs on both GRINDHOUSE features DEATH PROOF and PLANET TERROR listed below.

POLTERGEIST: SPECIAL EDITION

Warner Home Video will at long last release Poltergeist: 25th Anniversary Edition on October 9th. The DVD will feature a newly remastered 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 & 2.0 tracks. Extras will include the new documentary "They Are Here: The Real World of Poltergeists Revealed" (Part One – The Science Of The Spirits, Part Two – Communing With The Dead) and trailer gallery. Retail is $19.97.

BASKET CASE 2

Synapse Films has announced the DVD debut of Basket Case 2 for October 30th. Director Frank Henenlotter’s follow-up to his original arrives with a brand-new 1.78 anamorphic transfer mastered from a high-definition transfer of the original 35mm camera negative. Bonus materials include "Beyond The Wicker," a brand-new making-of featurette, and "The Man In The Moon Mask" new interview with actor David Emge. retail is $19.95. Also keep your eyes wide open for Synapse Films’ uncensored Special Edition DVD of director Frank Henenlotter’s Brain Damage coming back in print for a limited time on the same date for $19.95!

DEATH PROOF

Genius Entertainment and Dimension Extreme will release Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof on September 18th. Originally the second half of the "Grindhouse" double bill, the Kurt Russell segment will hit store shelves in an unrated, extended cut featuring over 30 minutes of never-before-seen footage (including the "missing reel" lapdance sequence and a B&W segment) in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

Extras on tap include the featurettes "Stunts on Wheels: The Legendary Drivers of Death Proof," "Finding Quentin’s Gals," "The Guys of Death Proof," "Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike," "Introducing Zoe Bell," "Quentin’s Greatest Collaborator: Editor Sally Menke" and "Quentin Tarantino Interviews Legendary Director Cirio H. PLANET TERROR

Genius Entertainment and Dimension Extreme will release Planet Terror on October 16th. Director Robert Rodriguez’s zombie half of the "Groundhouse" double bill arrives in an unrated extended edition (with the "missing reel" intact) featuring an anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks.

Extras include  an audio commentary with  Rodriguez, deleted scenes, "10-Minute Film School," "Cooking School," "The Stunts," "The Make-up and Effects," "The Badass Babes," "The Renegade Guys," "The Costumes," "The Production Design" featurettes, and the international trailer. Retail is $29.95.

    This is all good and everything but where the fuck are the fake trailers!? I hate that movies are about how much money the studio will make and not about the creators original vision.
    I want the whole thing in one long goddamn movie.

    I’m SO with Jim on this. What the hell are they thinking releasing the 2 films separately?! I was looking forward to having a screening when Grindhouse finally got released on DVD and now they decide to do this bullshit!! How do they figure it will be just as enjoyable if they release it in theaters one way and on DVD another? Lame!!!
